Jane focused on Semi-final- not Wales' Scarlets

Cory Jane has denied claims that he is set to join the Llanelli Scarlets and says that he wants to stay in New Zealand and get more All Black caps.

The 26-year-old New Zealand and Hurricanes full-back has been in the news lately as he is thought to be Scarlets first choice replacement for the injured Morgan Stoddart.

But Jane, who appears likely to be the back-up to Mils Muliaina when the New Zealand squad is announced at the end of the month says that the move to Wales is not on the cards.

"I'm not going there. I'm not going anywhere." he told Skysports.

"I'm contracted until the end of the year and my goal is to make the All Blacks and do well in the Super 14 and try to get to the final and win it," he said.

Jane earned his first All Black cap last year on the All Blacks end of year tour and came on as a substitute in the match against Australia in Hong Kong.

He also played against Scotland and also started in the historic match against Munster.

Jane is a talented fullback in the 15 man code and also won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in Sevens in 2006 and says he is keen to pledge his immediate future to New Zealand.

"I'm happy in New Zealand. I've got a new child on the way in October so I'm not in a rush to go anywhere."

"I want to make the All Blacks, that's my goal," he said.

"I still want to be a Hurricane and a Wellington Lion so hopefully they give me another contract or pick me."

"I haven't done any deals anywhere or talked to anyone about that. My goal is this year. I'll worry about that (contract) when it comes to the end of the year."

Jane added that his immediate focus is the Hurricanes' Super 14 semi-final against the Chiefs in Hamilton on Friday and said that the chance of a rematch so soon after the Hurricanes lost 16-8 to the Chiefs was a chance to restore a bit of pride.

The match was one of the few Super 14 matches where the Hurricanes were unable to get their attack flowing and get ascendancy at the breakdown.

"We had opportunities, just like they did. We made a few line breaks but it was just the last pass, the decision making, or someone would drop the ball," Jane explained.

"We weren't really looking after the rucks. They piled their numbers in."

"They had three or four people in every breakdown putting us under pressure. We didn't clean out and they were a bit more aggressive than us."

"We got beaten up by them. They beat us at the breakdown."

"A bit of pride was hurt then so we're hoping to turn it around this weekend."

Hurricanes coach Colin Cooper has virtually a full squad to choose from, his opposite number Ian Foster is not so fortunate and there is a major doubt over star centre Richard Kahui.

Jane however, is picking the rising All Black star will be there come game-time.

"He'll be there. It's a big game and he's a big game player so I think a bit of rest and he'll be there."

The Chiefs have also lost Brendon Leonard and prop Ben May.
