The Hurricanes have started their search for a new coach after the 2010 Super 14 by circulating the requirements in a media release.

The current Hurricanes coach Colin Cooper will leave the Wellington-based franchise at the end of May in order to take up the Taranaki job after Adrian Kennedy resigned.

The requirements stipulated on the media release do not leave many options

The release states that the successful candidate will coach the team, on and off the field, to a standard of excellence that enhances the reputation of the Hurricanes Franchise, New Zealand rugby and the Super 14.

The successful candidate will have outstanding leadership and people management skills, effective talent identification and development systems, and the ability to build strong relationships based on mutual respect and trust with key stakeholders.

An appreciation of the importance of technical and tactical components, thorough analysis, planning and organisation is imperative, as is the need to articulate and deliver a vision and game plan for the team.

To be eligible for the position of Head Coach, candidates should have:

• In the 12 months prior, been the Coach, Assistant Coach, Technical or Specialist Coach of a Super14 Franchise, Provincial Union or NZRU National team; or

• In the eight years prior, completed a minimum of three years cumulatively in any one of the aforementioned positions.

Applications close 12pm Tuesday, 26 January 2010.

To apply contact the NZRU.
