The Waratahs will test Dave Dennis's versatility this week as he is expected to move to the second row in order to cover as the Waratahs injury list grows longer.
The Waratahs will play the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein this weekend and they have potentially lost key forwards, captain Rocky Elsom, and second-rowers Dean Mumm and Sitaleki Timani to injury.
The men from Sydney have lost their last four matches in a row and have dropped in the Super Rugby standings to below Super Rugby's newcomers the Melbourne Rebels.
The Waratahs could be forced to dramatically reshuffle their pack by naming Kane Douglas and Dennis as a new second row combination because they could lose all three of Elsom, Mumm and Timani for this week's clash.
