Samoan 2011 Rugby World Cup hooker and Chiefs hooker Mahonri Schwalger has extended his contract with Super Rugby leaders the Chiefs.

Schwalger is arguably enjoying the best form of his career and has agreed to a two year contract with the Chiefs.

Chiefs Coach Dave Rennie stated "Mahonri’s wealth of experience, skill and leadership qualities are highly valuable to our team."

"His influence on the development of our young tight forwards has been huge. He is in great form and still has plenty to offer our franchise."

Thirty-two year old Schwalger is happy with his decision to stay with the current Investec Super Rugby competition leaders.

"I’m really enjoying my rugby, the coaching and the Chiefs environment. The body feels great and I know I still have plenty of good rugby left to play."

Schwalger has played in three rugby world cups and captained Samoa in their historic win against the Wallabies in 2011.
